Mr. Sainivalati S. Navoti (Sai) Chief, SIDS Unit.


 

Ms. Anya Thomas, Economic Officer, SIDS Unit.

Ms. Anya Thomas is an environment and sustainable development specialist, with over 16 years of developing country experience in environment and sustainable development issues, with a speciality in issues related to Small Island Developing States (SIDS).  She has spent her career working with Caribbean SIDS, providing institutional, policy and strategic support and advice in issues related inter alia to the implementation of Agenda 21, the Barbados Programme of Action, the Mauritius Strategy, and Multilateral Environmental Agreements. Ms. Thomas also has considerable experience in environment and sustainable development policy analysis and formulation. Coupled with this she brings skills in programme and project planning,design, monitoring and evaluation. Ms. Thomas has over a decade of experience in international environment and sustainable development negotiations and in consensus building. She has a masters degree in international environmental law from Newcastle University, United Kingdom. Ms. Thomas is a National of Trinidad & Tobago.


Mr. William (Bill) Bly

Mr. William Bly has been working with digital media since the early 1990’s. He joined the United Nations in May 2010. At DESA/DSD he served as the Web and IT focal point, representative for the Staff Union and chairmen for the 44th Staff Council. He was a member of the Office of the President of the General Assembly OPGA 68 cabinet. He is a professional photographer with twenty years of desktop publishing experience. In addition he was an Adjunct Professor teaching Web Design and Development at Long Island University School of Continuing Studies and Human Computer Interaction at Marlboro Graduate School. He earned a BS in Managing Information Systems and a MA in Teaching with Technology and is also a member of Iron Workers Local 40 where he was a Foreman. Mr. Bly is a national of the United States of America.


Ms. Eun Hee Lee joined the SIDS unit at DSD/DESA in May 2017. Previously she worked for research institutes in the field of environment policy and climate change. She was the coordinator for greenhouse gas training programs for government officials from developing countries and participated in UNFCCC meetings as a part the Korean delegation team. Just before joining UN, she worked at Korea Carbon Capture and Sequestration R&D Centre, an affiliated organization of the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning of the Korean government, where she was responsible for monitoring CCS policy developments. Ms. Lee holds bachelor degrees in English Literature and Economics, and a master degree in Public Administration from Seoul National University. Ms. Lee is a national of the Republic of Korea.
